If an average person spends 7 hours a day sleeping and lives an average life of about 75 years, then he or she has slept almost 1/3 – that’s 22 years! – of his or her life away. The great thing is that you can get more life out of those years wasted on sleeping, by learning to control your subconscious with lucid dreaming.
Lucid dreaming, also called conscious dreaming, refers to dreaming while actually being aware that you are dreaming. Once you become aware you are dreaming you can influence your dreams and control what happens. You can do anything you’ve ever wanted and go anywhere you’ve ever dreamed.

Learning Lucid Dreaming Techniques
Lucid dreaming is just like any other skill. Some are born with the ability, while most have to practice and improve it. The main condition for experiencing lucid dreams is to develop higher dream recall.
Although it may at first not seem like it, training dream recall is quite easy. It mostly takes only practice and motivation. Once you’ve improved your dream recall to a couple dreams per night, you can then trying to induce lucid dreaming.
Dream Journal
A great method of recording your dreams is to focus your intent on remembering them before falling asleep. A dream journal is the most common way of recording your dreams, but you can use something else, like a recorder, for instance.
A dream journal is simply a writing notebook that you should keep close to your bed. Upon waking, don’t let your mind drift off, but immediately try to focus on what you had just been dreaming, and write it down in your dream journal.
Dream Signs
Dream signs are quite simply cues that you are dreaming and are a standard means of inducing lucid dreams. In most cases, dream signs appear in the form of things or situations that would be impossible or less likely to happen in the waking world.
Some examples of common dream signs are:
• breathing under water
• flying or taking “Superman†long jumps
• oversized or undersized objects or people
• purple skies
• green cats
Dream signs are also sometimes more subtle:
• light switches that don’t work
• suddenly returning to work at an old job, being late
• not being able to scream
• the speech patterns of friends being unusual
• arriving somewhere naked
• having your teeth fall out – this is often a result of excessive worrying.
A personal dream sign that I have is the inability to run. I feel as if my feet are stuck to the ground or wading through waist deep water.

Order in Chaos……….Creating a “Dream Sign”
(Some may be able to skip this an jump right to the journal, others may not.)
In order to help jump start the dream journal. Cue your self randomly through out the day.
Cues to use………
Look at your hands and confirm that you are awake. You could go so far as to tell yourself “i am awake i am not dreaming”, I find repeating the statement three times appealing.
You could look at your watch or whatever you prefer,but the cue should be performed the same way each time.
The goal is to create focus.
By repeating this randomly through out the day the cue will eventually be preformed by your subconscious while you are asleep. When the cue occurs while dreaming it will trigger you to become conscious.
Basically creating a “Dream Sign”.
You can achieve Lucidity from this alone but the cueing through out the day gets old. This is when i’d start the journal.
Audio Recording Or Journal?
For me its the journal 100%! Audio Recording lacks something. Writting anything down that i even slightly remember will start a snowball effect that ends with me being mentally exhausted, from flying around all night.

There is something called Idoser where you listen to some brain waves for 30 minutes before you sleep and its supposed to give you that ability. its really cool

First off, great read. “teeth falling out”, “not being able to scream”, “superman jumps(also in my dreams, running without using my legs)” and “breathing underwater”, have all occured in my dreams on my own free will. Second, i’ve been able to do this off and on for years, and it’s always a fun thing, recently over the past 2 years i’ve been able to teach myself how to do certian things in my dream…then learning them in my dreams, been able to do them in real life…whats that fall under? Also i’ve been able to close my eyes, and see myself doing just that, but from other people’s perspectives..it sounds weird, but it’s true…I’ve been able to use this method for creating a shot when it comes to filming a scene, or taking a simple photograph. It’s helped my shots come out beautiful on both ends, helping to see what others can and do see. I would like to know whats THAT considered? I’m interested in the thoughts of lucid dreaming, the brain power of a human, channeling that and using more than the normal person…things like that.
Any good literature out there you acn suggest? Not “new age” stuff, but more on the scientific research aspect.

I can’t fly without the dream being ’scripted’. It’s annoying… I can however perform the KAME-HAME-HA, nullify bullet shots, slow time and in one instance where I was killed, managed to travel back in time and choose a different option. It’s pretty nuts, I look forward to honing the skill with these ‘dream signs’.
