Development Goals - Feeling Good

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

feeling goodYou do lots of things every day. You do so every week, every month, and suddenly you realize that the year has passed and you have almost forgotten about yourself. But in order to be able to appreciate what you have accomplished, you need to be aware of your own needs and of your development as a person. You need to feel comfortable with who you are, which implies taking care of yourself and maintaining your friendships. It also means trying to see the good parts even in difficult situations.

If you want to be able to develop harmoniously as well physically, as psychologically, you need to have a healthy breakfast, which increases your memory and drink coffee moderately, thus avoiding the state of irritation. It is very important to take care of your body, so quit watching TV so much, and try to get some exercise instead! If you cannot do it alone, find someone who is in a similar position, together it is much easier! Also train your brain by solving puzzles or learning something new, be it a foreign language or a new computer program.

Even at work it is important to work out, stretching makes you feel better and relax a bit. It is also important to smile, people on the other end of the phone feel your smile. Even you feel better when you smile. If you do not feel like smiling, you may think of something nice that always cheers you up – the smile comes by itself. You also feel good when you are able to make someone else feel good. So help when you can. To see the result of your work bringing a smile on someone’s face is one of the most beautiful rewards. This goal is one that has to come from the heart.

To manage to stay connected during the week, it often helps to go away for the weekend and forget everything else for a couple of days. You relax and afterwards you are able to fulfil your tasks with more concentration. If you do not travel to some other place, spend some time with your family and your pets. It reduces stress considerably.

You need to separate work and private life, so that you can always have your peace when you are at home. Never take the loved ones for granted and try to spend as much possible time with them. Affection is extremely important in a normal healthy development.

Laughing is one of the best methods to get rid of stress. You might laugh out loud at a good joke or even at yourself. Being funny at work or laughing with your colleagues and friends always lightens up the atmosphere. Try to develop as a person whom you yourself would enjoy spending time with. Then others will, too.

Because stress is one of our biggest problems, we need not to let it take us down. So sit back and watch the nature, a beautiful sunset, listen to relaxing music. If you see that you cannot develop as you wish, there might be a problem you cannot handle alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

It is also important to keep up a hobby and not to feel guilty when sitting and doing nothing after a busy day. Appreciate your own work and accept little rewards you can give yourself. Spend some time by yourself; allow yourself a nap or a tea break.

And don’t forget – telling yourself that you feel good is the first step to do so. Paying attention to some of the tips and trying some of them means a start to a better development of your own person.

Your blog is terrific. I love the visual layout. Very easy on the eyes. Thank you.

Too true, with regard your statement:
“No matter how big or small your task or goal is, if you want to be successful in producing any real results in your life you would have to take some kind of action.”

Thank you for your book also. I’ll go and get my copy now. :)

Great post, I agree with everything you wrote.

While it’s important to work towards long term goals… it’s just as important to enjoy each moment of the journey.

    Off topic…………….
I believe that by just being a part of “Priscilla Palmer’s Personal Development list” suggests that each of us post this list. You like me (Killeris at “Attitude, the Ultimate Power”) are on this list. If you have already posted it, THANK YOU. If you have not posted it, I am officially putting out a challenge that you add additional sites that fit the theme and post the entire list. This is my opinion only. If you disagree I respectfully understand. If you do agree with me this list can be found at: http://mondaymorningpower.blogspot.com/2007/09/personal-development-list-challenge.html

I may have missed it, but I do not see the list posted here.

Feeling Good must be an outcome of structured system. What do I mean by that? You need to let go of the past, leave in the moment, internalized, get your brainwaves at Alpha most the time, ie feel relaxed in everywhere you are to find yourself at an optimum level of focus, confidence and you are the power to get hold of the RIGHT solution and at the RIGHT time. You will be at the top of the world

Nice post. I too like to get away for the weekends and never feel guilty about it. Maintaining mental health is personal development too.

A great blog. As i’m currently running two companies and I as much as any one understand the importance of contiuing to try and improve. We all get trapped into thinking or putting to much emphasis on improvement that will bring you financial success but also learning to become a better husband or father or friend or just a better person is as if not more important. I would be more than happy to share any information I have. If interested just go to my blog.

If you want a really good resource for goal setting you must see The Opus.

If you liked the Secret you don’t want to miss this film. It’s not a Secret Anymore, The next step has arrived. The Opus. This spectacular film follows up to the questions left behind in the law of attraction. It features many familiar faces from The Secret. (Jack Canfield, John Demartini, Morris Goodman, Bob Doyle, Joe Vitale, Marci Shimoff, Mark Victor Hansen and others.) http://www.TheOpusMovie.com

Great post. Balance is key. People are funny you know, we do the things that make us feel good, balanced, and on track and then when we feel good, balanced and on track we tend to quit doing the things that leave us feeling that way. Self discipline is the first are of personal growth to start on for the best results. We need to keep our promises to ourselves.
