Perhaps you know that it is not always easy to maintain a positive attitude. There is always something like an event or some news that comes and worries you or makes you angry getting you out of the positive mood for as long as you let it, which is for as long as you decide to focus on negative thoughts.
The secret is to always direct your thoughts to the positive side. Following that, you must choose to have a positive attitude, and put it into practice when things do not come along nicely. Remember that putting these tips for a positive attitude in practice can help you in the moment, but if you want to keep a positive attitude most of the time, you need to be steady.
Now, here are your five tips:
1. Talk to yourself positively.
Say to yourself, “I’m good”, “I’m great”, “I am self-confident”. Feel good about yourself when you say these things. You are as worthy of these quotes as anybody else. Besides, you do not have to wait for anybody to tell you this – you can tell yourself and feel good now. Praise yourself when you have done something good as a good job at work, helped a friend and so on. If we have the time to value a colleague or relative, why wouldn’t you have the time to praise yourself and feel good too? “Well done, me”.
2. Express gratitude for the things in your life.
For instance, you can choose to be thankful for all the assets you own, for the people in your life, or simply for being able to walk or see, or have food everyday. Being thankful for anything puts you in an attitude of gratitude of whatever comes into your life. As a result, you will have a positive mood and feel more enthusiastic about what comes next, helping you towards maintaining a positive attitude.
3. Look back at the hard times in your past and recognize at least one good thing that came out of a bad situation.
Everything that may seem unbearable in your life has a positive aspect, even if it feels very negative at first. Therefore, it is normal to think that if a difficult event comes along in the future, no matter what it is, there will be something positive to come out for your own benefit. Feel serene about accepting this and acknowledge that you are able to deal with anything in your life, if you simply decide so.
4. Reinforce your self-esteem by recognizing something you achieved that was important or difficult for you.
It may have been completing an important project, winning a contest, or getting in touch with someone you had argued with, for instance. Discover the qualities that made you achieve that: strength, perseverance, kindness, whatever it is, and feel good about yourself. You possess those qualities and can bring them into play at anytime.
5. Focus on your main goal.
If you do not have a goal in your life, then go find one, make it your dream and manifest it into reality. For example, working from home and even stop working altogether are main goals for many people. When you are busy working on achieving your main goal you acquire a sense of purpose and fulfillment, which leads to a positive state of mind.
This last tip for a positive attitude is perhaps the most important one, as it brings purpose into your life. However, you would be surprised to know how many people, when asked, say that they do not know what it is that they truly want. Therefore, they just go along with whatever comes in life. They are not aware that they can choose what they actually want and work their way to get it.
Remember that maintaining a positive attitude is a choice that you and only you can make. It does not depend on external circumstances, but on what you choose to think about. These tips for a positive attitude could assist you greatly in your journey of becoming a more positive person.

You may have already experienced some of the benefits of positive thinking: an overall feeling of well being, a more positive attitude to cope with negative situations successfully, and attracting serendipity acts and positive circumstances in your life.
Now, how can you truly become a positive person?
The secret lies in making small changes little by little, so in time you can achieve a more positive attitude. Most people tend to direct their thinking toward the negative rather than the positive sides of their lives. We fear what may happen and dwell on the uncertainty of life as if events were to turn out bad toward us.
The solution is re-shifting your mind to focus on the positive, in such a way that after a while it does so almost automatically.
Here are some tips on how to become a positive person:
• Put yourself on your side! Make a commitment with yourself to become a more positive person. Don’t do it because others want you to or as a reaction to somebody else’s opinions;do it for you and because of you. You will be the one to reap the benefits in the first place.
• Make a change in your attitude and your discourse. “I hope it doesn’t rain” can be replaced by “It would be nice to have a sunny day”; a long commuting to work that you always thought as exhausting can be seen as a great opportunity to listen to music, read, or chat with a stranger. It all depends on the perspective.

• Surround yourself with positive and joyful people. When you meet someone that makes you feel better because they look on the bright side of life, decide to speak with them more often. Observe the way they see life and the words they choose to use. It will help you make your life more positive!
• Create your own set of affirmation cards with positive thinking affirmations that you can carry with you and read anytime, anywhere. Read the whole set of affirmations in the first hour of the day and before you go to sleep for a number of days, and you will be amazed by the positive impact this habit has on you.

We are dealing with a thought and one thought alone at any given time, and a thought can always be changed. Even the most difficult or painful circumstance appears differently when you change the way you think about it. You don’t need to change the circumstances, only your way to think about them.

Realize that all these tips are helpers for you to learn how to become a positive person. The greatest tool you have is persistence, as there is no doubt that you will have some difficulties and you will go through hard circumstances, which will test your attitude.

Choose one of these positive thinking activities to create a positive attitude. Increased awareness is one of the benefits of positive thinking. It comes to a point when you become naturally aware of your positive or negative feelings. Whenever you become aware that you have a negative state of being, you can choose to do one of these positive thinking activities and improve your state of mind.
To make the most out of any activity you do, it is very important that you remain focused on it. Take note of what works for you. Compile a list of your favorite positive thinking activities and refer to it whenever you feel down. It will be easier to pick something that you know is going to help you.
Here are some interesting positive thinking activities:
• Take some time to feel grateful for all the blessings you have in your life. You could even create a list and write down everything to remind you of the things and people that you do have.
• Watch “The secret”. This is a truly positive thinking movie that will reveal the way we shape our lives and what we attract to ourselves.
• Find people with similar affinities. You also have the chance to see what people want to do in their lives. It could be a very inspiring experiment.
• If you can, take some time to lie down in front of the ocean and relax, letting calm overwhelm you. Contemplate the immensity of the ocean and allow peace in your heart. Let all negative thoughts and feelings wash away with the movements of the waves.

• Create a personal vision board for the things you want to bring into your file. Go through magazines and cut out pictures that reflect what you strongly wish to have - the house, the car, the relationships, financial freedom… Paste them on your vision board and keep it visible to keep a positive attitude.
• Go for a picnic in the park and bring a good book or an interesting magazine. Relax and be open to meet new people.
• Spend some time helping someone else in doing something. It could be a relative, a neighbor, or you could even volunteer to help. Getting out of your own ego and helping someone else will feel rewarding.
• Be creative and express yourself. Draw, paint, write, and compose poetry, even if you have not done anything like this before. You do not have to prove your artistic talents, but to have fun by being creative.
• If you have pets, spend time playing with them. Realize the miracle of your pet alive, communicating with you without words. Enjoy being playful.
• If you have plants, do some gardening and find peace in grooming your plants. Buy a flowerpot of your favorite color and remember the beauty of life whenever you look at it.
• If you have children or nephews, dedicate time to play with them. Observe that the mind of a child is still not constrained by society’s rules and values, and it is very creative.
These positive thinking activities will help you maintain your positive attitude as long as you choose to focus on what you are doing and you will get the most out from the activity.
